I am so sorry to hear this sad news.  Geri and I started together at CDC on the same day, both in West Palm Beach, Florida.  She was a dear friend and will be tremendously missed.  Her courage in fighting health battles, as well as going into battle for those she mentored, is legendary.

Matt and Katie, how blessed you are to have had such a strong mother, who demonstrated integrity and honesty .  Geri was a light on a dark day, an inspiration to all; exhibited a "can do and a will do" attitude. Though she faced many challenges she knew and understood how precious life is; she never gave up.  Geri left a trail of beautiful memories.

My prayers are with you.

I think we only met once, at a recent Regional Meeting. But, I have known you, "by name," for many years, for your mentions in CDC e-mails, and your many accomplishments. On our Team Texas call today Ricardo spoke of your dedication to your work. We will miss you.

I had the privilege to work with Geri for the past five years.  She was a dedicated public health advisor, passionate about her work, and her commitment to make a difference in the programs she served.  She was also an exceptional human being.  She knew how to gather the strength to keep going, even through challenges and health issues.  Geri, I'm going to miss working with you.  And to the family, deepest condolences from me and the Western regional team at CDC.

Although Geri and my work relationship didn't have us communication often, when we did, it was always refreshing. Working relationships like hers are few and far between. My wish is the family can find solace in knowing that Geri is truly at Peace.

Geri was a caring soul with a great sense of humour, meeting life’s challenges with a positive and grateful attitude. What wonderful memories of her beautiful smile, many laughs, and great conversations as sisters of D Phi E and a fellow NAD. Geri, you will be missed, but never forgotten.  So sorry now that I missed you at Santa Fe this year, if just to get one more hug.  Good bye for now.  In Beauty, Mae and family

Geri was such a fun and energetic woman. I met her at the start of her career at CDC. We became great friends and had a lot of fun in West Palm Beach, Florida where she trained as a DIS. Through the years I watched her grow from a girl out of college to the career woman and mom she became. You will forever be missed but never forgotten. My condolences to your family.

I met Geri many years ago in Shreveport , Louisiana. She always was a quiet lovely and most friendly person I have ever met. She was so dedicated to her children Matt, Katie and John and family. My cousin Ruby loved her very much. Geri would visited Ruby in Shreveport from time to time. She traveled with little Matt many miles with his soccer team and taking vacation with family. She loved her family and friends very much. Geri is leaving a legacy behind. A very strong and dedicated one.  After knowing more and hearing more about Geri. I can live my life more complete. She is now my example and my role model and will be to her children. I hate I didn't get to talk to her and the kids more. She is in better hands now with God almighty. To Matt, Katie and John. You all had a strong and dedicated mother. Please follow her teaching with dedication and respect.  Always remember Psalm 30 verse 5. For his anger is but for a moment, and his favor is for a lifetime. Weeping may tarry for the night, but joy comes with the morning. Unbelievable the person she was even after her health fail. She continue to be involved in her work and helping her kids. May God be with the entire family at this time with love. We love you all from the Hall and Johnson Family, Shreveport, Louisiana

I came to the CDC in 2000 and was assigned to DSTDP as a Program Operations Assistant.  I did Time and Attendance and Travel for over 100 DSTDP Field Staff Employees (including Geri).

I don't remember meeting her in person but I spoke to her several times and she was one of the kindest people that I ever knew.  RIP, Geri.  My thoughts and prayers are with the family.

Geri will be sorely missed. Many folks would have avoided working in Mississippi, but Geri worked in my home state. We were able to shares stories of what it was like to be a field assignee with the state health department there.
