Obituary

Barbara Sue (Galloway) Fite was promoted to glory on November 28, 2019 after a courageous battle.
She was born on November 4, 1945 in Sentinel, Oklahoma to Standley and Daphene (Brock) Galloway.
Barbara graduated from her beloved Rocky High in 1963. One of her favorite memories was cheering on the '63 state championship Rocky Buffalo basketball team. Her friendship with her Rocky classmates was a strong bond that continued throughout the years with trips and slumber parties.
Barbara worked as a teacher's assistant and bus driver for Hobart Public schools. Barbara was also a favorite at Hobart Walmart, as people would stand in her line just to be able to visit with her. She was known by many as "Ma" and "Barbs". She spoiled the elementary children with snacks and popsicles. Even when not well, she made it to as many ballgames as possible, including the Lady Cat state softball tournament in Shawnee this year.
Barbara was known for her giving heart and she lived by the saying "Always Stay Humble and Kind." She loved all of God's creatures, never meeting an animal she didn't like.

Barbara is survived by 3 children:
Jay Fite of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma,
Jeff Fite and wife Melissa of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma,
Joy Porter and husband Brett of Hobart, Oklahoma,
5 grandchildren: Tyler Fite of Sarasota, Florida, Taylor (Fite) McCurtain and husband Miles of Sarasota, Florida, Reese Porter of Hobart, Oklahoma, Rowyn Fite of Eakly, Oklahoma, and Pearse Porter of Hobart, Oklahoma,
1 sister Brenda Bass of Cordell, Oklahoma,
1 brother Tim Galloway and wife Jackie of Rocky, Oklahoma,
honorary grandkids: Stran & Silver Scales.

She is preceded in death by her parents, grandson Teague Allen Porter, and brother-in-law Larry Bass.

I will miss Barbara. She loved her family and talked a lot about them. I always made it a point to see her at Wal-Mart. Talking with her over the fence when she was watching the grands. She always found Janet and I at the concerts. Enjoy your memories and photos. I lost my mother 42 years ago and yesterday was her birthday. I still have fond memories of her. Prayers to your family. She taught of you all

Barbara was a great woman and always had a smile on her face.  When my mom and dad passed away she always asked how I was doing when I went to Walmart.  She would always tell me stories of my parents and how much love they had for each other.  She always asked how my kids were doing.  She will greatly be missed.

Barbara was a fine person who personified trustworthiness and fairness. Our family will miss her kind gestures and friendly waves as we drove by her home in Rocky. We know her brother, Tim, and Sister, Brenda will greatly miss their beloved sister, as will all of Barbara's loving family that she adored with all her heart. To our heartbreak, it was time for her to go to a wonderful place where she will be eternally happy with her mother, dad and the rest of her family who were waiting for her in the Heavenly domain. May the good memories and times shared with her bring peace and solace to all her loved ones. She left this earthly domain too soon, but she is happily standing at the Golden Gates waiting to greet us when our time comes.  She left a large legacy of love.
Our prayers and good wishes are with you today and always.

I went to school in Hobart when I was little. She was always smiling and cheering there wasn’t a day go by I didn’t talk to her. I had always called her miss fight I never knew her last name or didn’t even bothered to ask.
Even as an adult I still called her miss fight, she just always smiled never corrected me going to miss her wonderful smile and brilliant ways..
