Ed was born July 19, 1927, in Cloud Chief, Oklahoma. He was an avid basketball player and mischief maker while attending school at Cloud Chief. After graduation Ed enlisted in the Navy and served as Seaman 1st Class training in fire fighting skills. Upon completion of his Naval enlistment, Ed enlisted in the United States Air Force where he obtained the rank of Staff Sargent. During his time in the Air Force, Ed met the love of his life, Imogene Morris.

On October 14, 1950, Ed and Imo were married in Cordell. During this time period, Ed was stationed at Vance Air Force Base in Enid, where they welcomed their first child, Belinda Gail. In 1954, while stationed at Webb Air Force Base in Big Springs, Texas, Ed and Imo welcomed their second child, Eddie Morris. Later in 1954, the family moved to Cordell where Ed started Holt Farms and served as the Assistant Fire Chief at Clinton Sherman Air Force Base in Civil Service. In 1956, Ed and Imo joined the First United Methodist Church of Cordell, where they were lifetime members.

Once Ed retired from Civil Service, he poured his life into farming. Ed had a deep love of the land. He continued his farming career until retiring in his late 80’s. A huge highlight and thrill for Ed came in 2017 when four of his farms earned the distinguished title as an Oklahoma Centennial Farm.
