I believe my Dad (Leland Unruh) was Alvin's cousin. My Dad was from Carnegie as well. In 2001 we took my Dad to Germany and one day we did a day cruise on the Rhine river and as we passed the remnants of the bridge he told us the story of Alvin and his bravery of saving those troops. May Alvin rest in peace and thank you for the lives you saved! Sincerely, Bill Unruh
