He resided in Cherokee, OK for his early years before moving to Tonkawa, OK at age 9. He graduated from Tonkawa High School in 1966, then attended Northern Oklahoma College completing his two-year degree. He married the love of his life Annette Walcher on August 22nd, 1968. He attended the University of Oklahoma Law School and graduated in 1974 with a Juris Doctorate, with a one-year interim on faculty at Northern Oklahoma College. The family moved to Edmond, OK in 1980 where Rex worked with a private law firm. In 1981, he returned to work with the Department of Interior Tulsa, OK office. Rex’s two loves were God and his family. I am truly saddened to have learned of Rex's passing.  He was a great friend to my parents and always happy to lend a hand.  I loved his sense of humor and dry wit! We are all blessed to have had Rex in our lives, and we will very much miss him.
The Herren family will always have special place in our hearts, and our thoughts are very much with you at this time.

I wish Rex's family and friends the most sincere condolences.  I had the pleasure of knowing Rex for two years -- 1995 through 1997 I think.  I don't think I have ever know a more dedicated, loving, kind, patient and generous family man. I appreciated his kindness to me during those years and I've thought of him often since. Thank you and Rest in Peace, my friend.
