Violet Jean Bert peacefully entered into rest on September 16, 2026, at the age of 93, at home with her family by her side. Violet was born at the home place. Zoletone, (Mt. View) to Burton & Kate Kaltchallah Tonahcot. She married George (Agopetah) Bert on October 1950 at Rainy Mountain Indian Baptist Church. Violet was a proud member of the Kiowa Tribe and one of the few full-blooded elders remaining.
After attending Mountain View High School, her family moved to Concho, Oklahoma, where she and her husband worked at Concho Indian School and where she later retired from Federal service. She still has life-long bonds with families there.
Her simple, Kindhearted spirit will always be remembered by those that knew her. She treated all her nieces and nephews as her own children; she was fondly called mom and grandma.
She had 5 Children, George Jr., Kimberly, Gaylon( Max ), and Shawn Bert. 15 Grand Children, 27 Great Grandchildren, and 17 Great, Great Grandchildren. She was pround to be a fifth generation Grandmother.
Violet was a devoted Oklahoma University Sooners and Oklahoma City Thunder Fan. Always front and center in front of the TV to watch every game.
She is survived by her brother, Monroe Tonahcot, Sr. and sister, Delores Poafpybitty, and a host of relatives and friends too many to name. She is also survived by very special friends that she cherished dearly, Dorothy DeLaune and Delores Harregarra and special Lil' sisters and Lil' brothers (too many to name individually).
She is preceded in death by, husband, George (Agopetah) Bert; son, William (Wonka) Bert; parents, Burton & Kate Tonahcot; grandchildren, Kerry Bert and Carson Bert; great-great Grandchildren, Jaden Faye Bert and Jesus Rosales; brother, Vernon Tonahcot; and sisters, Thelma Geionety, Ernestine Perciado, and Libby Ware. Sons, Frankie, Bruce and J.D. Doyebi.
