Vernon Fullbright

Vernon O. Fullbright, 88, of Gracemont passed away at home on June 11, 2022, surrounded by his family. He was born on July 11, 1933, to John Henry and Hattie Myrtle (Dillon) Fullbright in a two story house on a farm near Gracemont.
Vernon attended Gracemont and Oney Schools while helping his family work on the farm. He attended church from a young age and gave his life to the Lord at age 14.
Vernon married Roberta (Hathaway) Fullbright on December 28, 1968.
Vernon attended the Gracemont Assembly of God church and was a deacon for several years. He was active in his community and had previously served as a council member for the Town of Gracemont.
Vernon was a hardworking man. He helped on the farm pulling cotton for wages at an early age. In later years he raised watermelons, cantaloupes and tomatoes and would take them to sell in Oklahoma City, neighboring towns, and the sale barn in Anadarko. He farmed wheat, peanuts, alfalfa, and many other crops over the years. He loved raising cattle and being on the farm. He received the Indian Soil Conservation Association Award - Conservation Farmer of the Year in 1979. Vernon liked to buy things and fix them up to resell. He enjoyed buying and selling vehicles and farm machinery.
Vernon had a kind heart, pretty baby blue eyes, and a sweet spirit. He had many friends and loved visiting with people. Vernon never met a stranger. He enjoyed going to the coffee shop to visit with his friends every morning. He loved spending time with family and was proud of his kids, grandkids and great-grandkids.
Vernon is survived by his: wife of 53 years, Roberta Fullbright of the home; two daughters, Donita Holdge and husband Larry of Moore; Julie Tackett and husband Dustin of Oney; two grandsons, Daniel Holdge and wife Jennifer of Norman and Hudson Tackett of Oney; two great-grandchildren Pearl and Palmer Holdge of Norman; two sisters Mildred Dickson of Anadarko and Jane Brownen of Gracemont; one sister-in-law Omar Fullbright of Chickasha and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his: parents; siblings, Oren Fullbright, Othar Fullbright and sister-in-law Marguerite, Josh Fullbright and sister-in-law Irene, J.V. Fullbright, Verdie Green and brother-in-law Troy, Milbra Fullbright, brother-in-law Dick Dickson, and brother-in-law A.C. Brownen.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Gracemont Assembly of God Church, Gracemont School, or the charity of your choice.
