Surelena Joann Elix, 94, passed away peacefully on August 24, 2026. She was born on August 20, 1932 to Governer Brown and Mary Drayden Brown in Hamlin, Texas. Surelena grew up and attended school in Hamlin, graduating from Hamlin high school in 1950. She met and married Walter Elix on April 26, 1991 in Kiowa County. To this union were born 6 children where they made their home in Roosevelt Oklahoma. Survived children: Juanita Williamson, Sammie Elix, and Alfred Joe Elix. Surelena loved family and her animals. She was the type of person that make a big impact to the room she walked in; she was very loving, sassy, and caring. She was one of a kind. She was an avid quilter and sewer. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Roosevelt. Surelena will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Though you're gone, Your love remains. In the tender winds gentle rains. In every smile, in every tear, you're with us still, you're always near. Though we grieve. We won't despair. Your love surround us everywhere. Rest in peace, you're soul flies free, in our heart will always be.
