Ruby Lee Mingus was born to Della and Knox Shipman on December 10, 1921, and went to be with the Lord on July 20, 2024. She lived and went to school in Hinton until 1937 when her family moved to Anadarko. She graduated from Anadarko High School in 1940. She met the love of her life, Frank Mingus, at age 16. They married when she was 19 on February 21, 1941. They had two children, Carolyn Kay and Robert Louis. Ruby Lee was a homebody until 1949 when she was employed at the ASC office. She worked there for almost 20 years. She served on the Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and was a member of the Delphian Club. She also helped start the Christmas Celebration of Lights and enjoyed working on it for 10 years. In 1996, the Chamber of Commerce chose her as Woman of the Year. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Anadarko for over 80 years. There she taught Sunday School and served on many committees. One of her greatest joys was watching the little children she taught in Sunday School grow up and become such wonderful adults. She and Frank loved to travel and fish. They traveled to most of the states and enjoyed staying in the valley in Texas with friends during the winter months. She loved people and served others well. She was known for her angel food cakes that she baked for family, friends, fundraisers and especially for those who were hurting. She was always there with a smile, a word of encouragement and a helping hand extended to those who needed it. She was a wonderful grandmother who loved spending time with her grandchildren. She especially enjoyed taking them camping and fishing. Fishing was truly a favorite pastime of hers and she loved the fact that she could always outfish Frank. Ruby Lee is survived by her children, Carolyn Jessee of Tulsa and Robert Mingus and wife, Sue of Weatherford; four grandchildren: Jim Means and wife, Meredith; Erin Harp; Deleise Klaassen and husband, David; Erica Ward and husband Terry; Twelve great-grandchildren: Max Harp; Avery Harp; Megan Means; Blake Means; Carter Means; Garrett Klaassen and wife, Jenna; Tyler Klaassen and wife, Shaylin; Riley Hershberger and husband, Ethan; Cole Klaassen; Tristan Ward and wife, Carolyn; Rahbin Ward; and Taryn Ward, and one great-great-grandchild, Salem Klaassen; sister, Pauline Kubala; sister-in-law, Jean Shipman; brother-in-law, Jerry Headley, and many nieces and nephews.
