Rose Marie Fischer

January 30, 1936 — February 3, 2026

Rose Marie Fischer entered her eternal rest on February 3, 2026 at the age of 90. She was a devoted wife to Jerry Fischer, a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.

She lived a beautiful life rooted in faith, love, and laughter. Rose was the second daughter of Raymond Andrew and Eva Marie (nee- Blaser) Snoddy, born in Garber, Oklahoma on January 30, 1936.

After she graduated from Garber High School in 1954, she attended Oklahoma A&M University/Stillwater, OK, where she met Jerry Michael Fischer of Hobart, Oklahoma.

They married on January 26, 1957, and moved to Ankeny, Iowa, where she completed her Bachelor's of Science in Education at Drake University/Des Moines in 1958. Shortly after that they moved to El Paso, Texas where Jerry served for two years in the US Army. While there, they had their first son, David.

In 1960, they moved back to Ankeny, IA, and had their second and third sons, Phillip and Steven.

Future moves took the family to Richardson, Texas and finally to Hobart, Oklahoma, where they opened Tools and Troubleshooting in 1975.

For the next twenty-nine years, Rose worked behind the scenes keeping the books for the shop.

She also wrote multiple articles for the Lawton Constitution for eleven years. Rose was also in charge of publicity for the city of Altus for six years. The couple became pilots later in life, both earning commercial and instrument ratings, and were heavily involved with the flying club at the Altus college.

In retirement, Rose and Jerry cosponsored the Altus Ballroom Dancers with friends in Altus and Frederick. The group met weekly and learned different dances, the waltz being her favorite.

They were able to use their dance moves on several cruises, her favorite being the one that took them through the Panama Canal. She said she liked this adventure the most because all days at sea included dancing events.

Perhaps her greatest love in life was studying and discussing scriptures and her daily devotion to God. She also treasured time with family and friends. Rose will be greatly missed.

She is preceded in death by her husband in 2019, parents Raymond and Eva, and sister Esther Rae Livingston.

She is survived by her sister Reva Ruth Bryant of Columbia, MD; sons David Victor Fischer and wife Stefani of Hobart, OK; Phillip Wayne Fischer and wife Lou Ann of Hobart, OK; and Steven Ray Fischer and wife Patricia of San Antonio, TX.

Her nine grandchildren will miss her homemade bread and cinnamon rolls:

Joshua David Fischer and wife Kara, Perkins, OK; Jordan David Fischer and Leah, Levelland, TX; Sarah Dawn Bost and husband Jonathan, Hobart, OK; Phillip Sean Fischer and wife Lexi, Fayetteville, AR; Rachel Iris Aldava and husband Jacob, Oklahoma City, OK; Emma Kate Fischer, Austin, TX; Katelyn (Kit) Morgan Fischer, Alexander (Alex) Scott Fischer and Sophia (Sophie) Kate Fischer all of San Antonio, TX.

Her six great-grandchildren held a special place in her heart: Jeremiah Joshua, Kadence Wilson, Emunah Danielle, Noah Alexander, Jackson Douglas, and Taylor Jordan.

A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends also provided countless memories and laughter.

Although her physical self is no longer with us, her spirit lives on in the lessons, recipes, and stories she freely gave.

We will always carry her in our hearts.

Interment: February 4, 2026 at Hobart Rose Cemetery, Hobart, OK. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to Great Plains Youth and Family Services.
