Paul Douglas

Michael Douglas was born to Evelyn Davis and Paul Douglas March 26,1952.

He was well loved by his aunt and uncle Annie and Billy Davis of Waldren, Arkansas

and everyone that knew him. He was a bright and industrious student that earned an

Eagle Scout award and made A's and B's in high school while, from the age of 14

working part time and playing sports. During his senior year, he entered a competition

sponsored by the Rural Electric Cooperation by writing an essay about the impact of

REC on Oklahoma. He won the competition in his region and was awarded a trip to

Washington DC, While on that trip he met Carla Lindsey. Michael graduated from

Eleno High school in 1970. He received a basketball scholarship to attend El Reno

Junior College (now Redlands) and graduated as a member of the first graduating class

from that college. He continued his studies at the University of Oklahoma.

Michael and Carla started dating shortly after he came to OU and they married

May 26, 1975. As both were in school and Michael was working full time as an

assistant manager at Safeway, Michael put his education on hold until Carla finished her Nursing Degree. He did successfully finish his degree in Business from OU in 1982.

With his CPA Certification in hand, Michael went to work for a large accounting firm in

Oklahoma City. After a few years Michael set up his own practice in Norman and

maintained that practice until retirement.

Michael loved sports and was an avid fan of the Oklahoma Sooners. He traveled

to home and away games as his schedule would allow. He enjoyed many trips to Hawaii and the Florida Keys. He had a fondness for sea turtles and adopted a sea turtle, which he supported for many years. He was always ready to help others and truly loved spending time with his niece, Lindsey Sagely, and two nephews. Joey Douglas and Michael Sagely. All three went with Carla and Michael to Six Flags and Branson as

well as many home games at OU,and of course to the Texas State Fair to attend the OU vs Texas game.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Evelyn and Paul, his brother, Larry,

his nephew, Joey, his aunt and uncle Annie and Billy, Carla Lindsey Douglas, and

second wife, Melanie Randell Pealor Douglas. He leaves behind Jan and Andy Hogan

of Claremore, Marva and Ron Maggard of Edmond, Lindsey and Tyler Armbrister of

Inola, Michelle and Michael Sagely of Claremore, grand nieces, Allison. Emma, and

Olivia of Claremore, grand nephew, Carson Hobbs of Claremore, Elaine Smith of

Edmond, many relatives and lifelong friends

Michael faced many adversities during his life but maintained a positive attitude,a

quick smile, and a warm hug when needed. Though he is no longer physically with us,

the impact he had on us will be kept in our hearts.
