Nelda Sue Scrudder, 79, of Corn, Oklahoma, passed away on April 14, 2026. Nelda was born August 1, 1946, to Loran L. and Ima E. (Morgan) Nix in Sentinel, Oklahoma. She spent part of her early childhood in Wichita, Kansas, before returning to Carnegie, Oklahoma, where she graduated from Carnegie High School in 1963. Immediately after graduation, she attended cosmetology school in Oklahoma City and earned her cosmetology degree as a licensed cosmetologist.
Shortly after, she married her high school sweetheart, Joe M. Scrudder, on September 7, 1963. Together they moved to Oklahoma City upon marrying. They celebrated sixty years of marriage before Joe's passing on February 13, 2024. Together they welcomed three children: Tami, Marcus, and Tera.
Although Nelda focused proudly on being a homemaker, she was also a very talented oil painter and clay sculptor. Art was one of her greatest passions, and she loved sharing her work with others. Her creative talents also enabled her to work alongside her husband, a custom home builder, as an interior decorator. Later in life, she became a partner in S & S Sod Farms, LLC, helping grow it into a successful family business, which she continued operating after Joe's death with the primary, steadfast assistance of her daughter Tami, whose dedication played an essential role in keeping the farm thriving.
Nelda was often seen as quiet and reserved upon first meeting her, yet she unmistakably made an unforgettable impact. She had a God given gift for leaving an indelible mark on everyone blessed to know her. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her children:
Tami Scrudder, Eakley, OK
Marcus Scrudder, Salt Lake City, UT
Tera (TJ) Morgan and spouse Reggie Givens, Boca Raton, FL
Grandchildren: Sloane Givens, Colton Scrudder, Coby Scrudder, and Campbell Scrudder
Honorary Grandchildren (Alphabetical): Ailani, Alieah, Alison, Alondra, Aliyah, Alexander, Angel, Angela, Ariana, Brittani, Cynthia, Eleazar Jr., Evelin, Jaden, Jerson, Justice, Justin, Kevin, Leo, Natali, Nicole, Savonha, Shelce
Extended Family: Niece Sandra Gayle; nephews Bobby, Curtis, and Terry Nix; along with cousins, family, friends, and the valued employees of S & S Sod Farms, whom she considered part of her extended family.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Joe M. Scrudder, her parents Loran and Ima Nix, and her brother Jimmy Nix.
