Mary Sue Trammel Hines was born to Masten "Mac" and Gladys Trammel on September 17, 1938, in Maysville, OK. She grew up on a farm with her family northwest of Hobart, Oklahoma, graduating from Hobart High School in 1956. She met the love of her life, Frank Hines, during high school, and they were married in 1956. Frank and Sue were deeply rooted in the Hobart community. Sue served faithfully in her church and served community. She was a devoted wife and mother, a phenomenal cook, and made and decorated most of Kiowa county residents' birthday, wedding, and special celebration cakes. If you ever had her fried chicken, well, you had the best!
Sue worked alongside Frank to ensure smooth running of their home and their farm operation. In addition, along the years, Sue worked at JC Penney, as a cook at the First Baptist Church in Hobart, as a substitute teacher for Hobart Public Schools, and worked at a local antique mall.
Sue's spiritual gift was that of hospitality. She loved hosting special gatherings and taking care of others' needs. She and Frank served as their Sunday School's directors for more than 25 years.
She loved her family, friends, and most of all God fiercely. Until her last day on earth, she would ask everyone she met, "Do you know Jesus? If so, see ya later!" Her life personified His love and His light.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Frank, father Mac and mother Gladys, and her brothers, Johnny and Steve. Those left on this earth to treasure her memory are her sister Maxine Barnes, sister-in-law Georgia Trammel, sister-in-law Wanda Rizzi, brother-in-law Floyd Hines, two daughters, Arvella McCollom and husband Mark (Bristow, OK) and Lisa Greenlee and husband Jeff (Altus, OK), five grandsons who adored her, Josh McCollom and wife Sarah (Ripley, OK), Trevor McCollom and wife Kelly, (Broken Arrow, OK), Adam Greenlee and wife Carly (Dallas, TX), Alex Greenlee and wife Jade (Oklahoma City), and Todd Greenlee (Los Angeles, CA). She is also survived by great grandchildren, Kelsie McCollom, Kaden McCollom, Westin McCollom, Easton McCollom, Kase McCollom, Greg Greenlee, James Greenlee, and Mila Greenlee. She reminded each of them every time she saw them of just how "Great" they all were to her. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews that loved her like a mother and many dear friends.
Services will be held Thursday, February 12, at 10 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Hobart with burial at Hobart Rose Cemetery. Family visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. on Wednesday, February 11, at Ray and Hackney's Funeral Home in Hobart.
In lieu of flowers Sue said she would love donations be made in her honor to the FBC Hobart Malawi Mission project or the FBC Hobart Falls Creek fund. Both she and Frank loved seeing youth go to Falls Creek and learn about Jesus.
