Marion Kenneth Tyler jr., (Ken) was born January 25, 1944 to Marion Kenneth Tyler Sr. and Dessie (Price) Tyler in Chickasha, Ok. He left this world May 15, 2024. The oldest of 4, he grew up and attended Carnegie Public School, graduating in 1962. He attended SWOSU. His senior quote was "to marry a certain farmer's daughter" (Maida Leatherbury), which he did on July 5, 1964. He was a butcher, a trade he learned from the late Don Hill. He worked for Safeway in Cordell, Clinton, and Burkburnet, TX. They moved to Carnegie where he worked with his dad as a custom wheat harvester for years. He was Chief of Police for Carnegie, owned and operated Ken's red and white grocery store before working for ASCOG, and finally retiring from the U.S. Postal Service. He also retired as a volunteer firefighter for Carnegie for many years. He loved his family and made many memories driving so many miles for countless vacations, especially with his grandchildren! He loved history, and always stopped at any historical spot along the way (or out of the way).
Those left to cherish his memories are: his wife Maida of the home, daughter Sheila Blount, husband Chester, Lawton. Grandsons: Josh Tyler, wife Tara, Purcell; Kenny and wife Laura, Purcell. Granddaughters: Amanda Harrison, husband Tommy, Lawton; Kenda Tyler, Norman, and Tyler Copeland, husband Noah, Austin, Tx.; and Kayla Tyler, Cole; 10 great grandchildren: Khia, Jett, and Shawk Tyler, Ella, Avie, Mace and Maverick Tyler, Eli, Cam, and Emma Harrison 2 brothers Terry Tyler (Allison )and Randy Tyler (Cathy)
Preceded by his parents, in-laws, brother Dennis Tyler, brother in law Dennis Leatherbury, brother in law Doyle Leatherbury, sister in law LaBerta Barber, and his son Kendall Tyler.
