Katherine June Daingkau, 80, of Carnegie, passed from this life and entered the Kingdom of God and into
His Glory, early Tuesday morning, March 31, 2026 in the comfort of her home, surrounded by loved
ones.
Katherine, known to her loved ones as June, was born on January 19, 1946. She was the third child born
to Clyde Daingkau, Sr. and Mildred (Mausape) Daingkau. On her paternal side, she was the grand-
daughter of George Washington Daingkau and Ki-He-To-Baun-Mah (Abbie Daingkau). Her maternal
grandparents were Conrad Mausape and Helen Edna Tanequoot. She and her older sister, Margaret
(Daingkau) Tahpay, shared the same birthday. Born on the same day but in different years, June took
every opportunity to tease her sister that she was the younger sibling.
At the age of 11 June was adopted by her aunt, Julia Daingkau, who had no daughters of her own. From
that time on, Julia lovingly cared for her and raised June as her own. June had many fond memories of her mama Julia singing Kiowa lullabies, and taking her to powwows and dances. The American Indian
Exposition held many memories for June and she often shared her childhood memories of dancing at the
grandstand and being part of the pageant.
June grew up east of Carnegie at the old Daingkau homestead. She attended school at the old CDU,
(Cedar Dale), and Carnegie Public Schools. She later attended classes at Roswell and Oscar Rose Junior
College.
In the 1970s, after finding faith and love in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, June began her work in the
ministry, evangelizing and spreading the Gospel, teaching the Word of God alongside her mentor Carol
Bennett and others, including her close friends and sisters in Christ, Cynthia Gouladdle and the Kingdom
Messengers.
June was ordained in the United Tribes For Christ Fellowship Ministry that began in Carnegie and
quickly advanced into other Native American Reservations; including Michigan, Colorado, New Mexico,
Arizona, North and South Dakota, Wyoming, and various other places across the U.S. and Canada.
June loved every opportunity she had to travel and met a lot of friends and relatives along the way. She
spoke highly of her brothers and sisters in Christ and of the places she visited. Many admired her as a
strong prayer warrior and a woman of God, testifying that it was her ministry and encouragement that
brought them to Christ.
Her faith in God and love for family remained the most important part of her life. She loved all family
gatherings and especially enjoyed being around her siblings and their families. June was a member of the
Kiowa Tribe and was fluent in Kiowa. She loved her Kiowa ways; the Kiowa hymns, and the Kiowa
stories that she heard from her grandmas and grandpas. She took every opportunity to correct, teach, and
explain all she knew about the Kiowa language and culture to those who would listen.
June's life leaves a legacy of her love and her faith in God. She will be truly missed by all those who
knew and loved her.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her momma Julia. Brothers: George Daingkau, Clyde
Daingkau Jr., Collier Oyebi, Melvin Cizek, and Spencer Tsalote. Sisters: Claudette (Daingkau) Autaubo,
Margaret (Daingkau) Tahpay, and Hazel (Tsalote) Musick.
She is survived by her younger siblings: Hazel (Daingkau) Silverhorn and husband Thomas, and Elliott
Daingkau. Special sons: Tony Littlecalf, Darin Zotigh, Samuel Otis and Robert (Sonny) Yeapau. And
many others whom she called sons and daughters.
