Johnathan Glen Jones was born on March 17, 1969, in Enid, Oklahoma, to Glen Dale Jones and Yvonne Ann Mays-Jones. John attended grade school in Hobart, Oklahoma, and moved from Hobart to Yukon, Oklahoma, until age 14. He attended El Reno VO Tech School to study computers while in 7th grade.
He moved to Odessa, Texas, with his mom and stepdad at 15 years old and attended Permian High School. John moved to Laredo, Texas, with his mom and stepdad and attended Laredo United High School, where he graduated at age 17 with a GED in order to transfer to Texas A&M University Technical School in Waco, Texas, where he studied mechanical engineering. He later transferred to McClenden Community College to study music.
After completing his education in Waco, Texas, he moved to San Antonio, Texas, where he worked for ALTEC Computer Company as a computer technician. He was offered a position as a pressure system installation trainer with Pressure Systems Inc. He trained employees of semi-trailer manufacturing companies in the installation process of tire inflation systems, traveling to Canada, Mexico, and the USA. He created his own design to improve the tire inflation systems and partnered with the PSI CEO to start their own company. He continues to hold the patents to his design. The company was sold several years later. He and his brother James Jones started their own construction business (Jones Construction) until his brother passed suddenly from illness. John continued his construction business until late 2020 when he was diagnosed with terminal cancer. He passed peacefully on August 23, 2025, with his mom at his bedside.
He is survived by his mom, Yvonne Mays-Pollard; three nephews, Cale, Collin, and Nick Jones; his two uncles, Ron and Bill Mays, and their wives, Carolyn and Caroline; cousins; and close friends. Preceding him in death are Carri Mays, Enid Mays, Bud Mays, Jim Jones, Glen Jones, Nell Jones, J.C. Jones, Joyce Jones-Keaton, Rene Sowders-May, Tiffany Sowders, and Doyle Cullum.
John will be sorely missed by many friends and family.
