Jobyna Fern Kauahquo Hammock
Fern was born in Hobart, Oklahoma to Ernest and Helen Kauahquo. She was raised in homes near Elk Creek, Kiowa County. Fern was a descendent of Chief Lone Wolf of Elk Creek and Maunkee who also went by Kiowa Bill. Her grandparents were Frank & Sarah (Lone Wolf) Kauahquo and Paul Ahtapety and Fannie Atau Maunkee Ahtapety Onco. Fern attended Hobart Public Schools. Fern had one daughter, Kimberly Kay Ahtone. Fern would marry John Allen Hammock of Arkansas, they both worked and traveled with seismic crews across West Texas. Later, they lived in Lawton where she worked for 25 years at Reynolds Army Hospital as a supply technician, from where she would retire. The joy of her life were her grandchildren, Eric John Ahtone, Randi Leigh Dailey and Damon Dwight Dailey. She loved to travel and show off her beadwork and always encouraged the family to practice and perfect this sacred craft. She took her grandchildren on many adventures to powwows and held dear the time she had with them.
