Jasper Eskew Jr., 77, of El Reno, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on October 10, 2025, in Oklahoma City. He was born on February 11, 1948, in Lawton, Oklahoma, to Jasper Eskew Sr. and Vera Campbell Eskew. Jasper grew up in Carnegie, Oklahoma, and graduated from Carnegie High School in 1966. He spent most of his life in El Reno, where he built lasting friendships and was known for his quiet strength, steady nature, and deep loyalty to those he loved. He carried a strong work ethic and sense of responsibility throughout his life. In 1965, Jasper married Lenora Ann Putnam in Wichita Falls, Texas. Together, they raised three children - Jasper Eskew III, Chris Eskew, and Caroline Wilson. Later in life, Jasper married Helen Sue "Shelly" Eskew on May 12, 1997, and they shared fifteen wonderful years together until her passing in 2011. Their blended family brought him much happiness and laughter. Jasper worked for Homeland Stores for many years as a butcher, where he was well known for his skill, work ethic, and friendly nature. He took great pride in his craft and built many lasting friendships with coworkers and customers alike. He was known for his ornery smile and loved to joke around - always ready with a one-liner or a playful tease. You could tell exactly how he felt just by the way he'd cock his eyebrow, a look that said more than words ever could. Jasper's humor, warmth, and down-to-earth personality made him someone people naturally gravitated toward. Outside of work, Jasper enjoyed simple pleasures - time outdoors, good food, and sharing memories from his younger days in Carnegie and El Reno. He especially loved spending time with his 10 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren, who were his greatest joy. He was also a lifelong Dallas Cowboys/OU fan, never missing a game and always loyal to his team - win or lose.
Jasper is preceded in death by his parents, Jasper Sr. and Vera Eskew; his son, Jasper Eskew III; his sisters Nelda Poolaw, Debra Eskew, and Annetta Holiday; his wife, Helen Sue "Shelly" Eskew; and his loyal dog, Snugs.
He is survived by his children Chris Eskew and Caroline Wilson; his stepdaughters Kayla Jordan and Kimberly Capps; his brother-in-law Johnny Pruitt of Corsicana, Texas; his siblings Janice Lee and Bill Eskew; his ten grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family who will miss him deeply.
