Iris Silverhorn

Iris Silverhorn, 89, of Anadarko, Ok passed away peacefully with her loved ones by her side on April 5, 2026.

Iris was born May 23, 1936 in Stecker, Ok as a twin and one of 11 children to Clara Tsalote and James Silverhorn. Iris was an enrolled member of the Kiowa Tribe and fluent in Kiowa. She was the last living full blooded Kiowa twin. She loved singing and listening to Kiowa Hymns. She grew up in a traditional Kiowa home and loved and respected the Kiowa ways. Iris was a homemaker who spent most of her life taking care of others and being a motherly figure to many who loved and appreciated her for it. Her energy, light and unique personality will never be forgotten. Iris had an infectious laugh that we all loved and will deeply miss. She was a beloved daughter, sister, mother, aunt, grandmother and friend who touched the lives of anyone who had the privilege to know her. Iris loved spending time with her daughter, grandkids and great grandkids. She loved her strong black coffee, watching classic movies, and her time at Brandon's where she made many friends throughout her life. A beautiful woman inside and out who taught us all that laughter is the best medicine.

She is preceded in death by parents Clara Tsalote and James Silverhorn; siblings, Clara Ruth Tofpi, Velma Silverhorn, Leonard Silverhorn, Bessie Ahhaitty, Billy Joe Silverhorn, Rosalyn Stevens, Robert Silverhorn and twin Phyllis Calcaterra; children, Henry Silverhorn, Jimmy Dean Silverhorn, Elizabeth Silverhorn; granddaughter, Kathryne Silverhorn

Iris is survived by sister Mary Lou Tselee of Anadarko, Ok; daughter, Clarissa Silverhorn of Anadarko, Ok; grandchildren, Amorette Silverhorn and companion Charles Longhat, Devin and Morton Autaubo, Christian Silverhorn, Chayton Silverhorn, Justine Robinson, all of Anadarko, Ok, Leanna and D'Angelo Jackson of Oklahoma City, Ok, Sacha Silverhorn and companion Justin Mendoza of Lawton,Ok, Savanna Silverhorn, Corey Poolaw and companion McKagan Redbird, Emerson Silverhorn all of Anadarko,Ok, Cameron and companion Clara Cisco, Katrina Silverhorn of Chickasha, Ok, Westley and Trinity Poolaw of Norman, Ok and numerous great grandchildren.
