Gail Sankadota

Gail Sankadota, 74, of Anadarko, Oklahoma, passed away on Monday, March 23, 2026, in Norman, Oklahoma, with her family by her side. She was born October 11, 1951, in Lawton, Oklahoma, to Jasper and Etheline (Haumpy) Sankadota.

She graduated from Broxton High School in 1968. Gail was an accomplished softball player, playing on her father's team, Jasper's Red Raiders, and was inducted into the Softball Hall of Fame in Oklahoma City.

In 1974, she began her career with the Kiowa Business Committee as an enrollment clerk, where she served her community and assisted many families through her work.

Gail was a devoted mother and grandmother, known as "Nana" to her grandchildren. She enjoyed spending time with her family, sewing, beading, puzzles, and cheering on Anadarko football and Oklahoma City Thunder basketball.

She is survived by her children, Jack Sankadota and wife Fawnn Hayes of Lawton, Oklahoma, and Jeremy Sankadota and wife Meesa Sankadota of Anadarko, Oklahoma; her sisters, Irma Sankadota and Joyce Vinyard; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Amy Sankadota; her granddaughter, Semmie Gail Sankadota-Stick; her great-grandson, Ke'mauni King; and several siblings.
