Doyle Houston Stoup 85 of Hobart Oklahoma passed away peacefully on July 2nd, 2025, at 4:57pm with his family holding his hand.
He was born on March 5, 1940, in Hobart Oklahoma to Vernon and Geneva Stoup. Doyle married the love of his life Mary Ann (Foust) Stoup on June 4, 1962, in Roosevelt Oklahoma. Doyle loved Mary Ann every day of his life until his very last breath. To their union two daughters were born. Dana Boyd and Tamara Whaley.
Doyle grew up in the otter creek/Roosevelt area. He attended school in Roosevelt and graduated in 1958. He was a proud Roosevelt roughrider and valued all of his many friendships he made with his classmates. He enjoyed farming and going on harvest in his younger years and loved a good horse and a good hunting dog.
Doyle served four years in the Oklahoma national guard. He was employed at Stanley furniture in Hobart where he laid carpet and delivered furniture.
He later became employed at the Oklahoma state reformatory in Granite Oklahoma in 1973. During his 29 years of service at the Oklahoma State Reformatory he held many positions. Doyle was a cell house officer, a Gang officer where he sat horse back for 8 hours a day, transportation and protective custody officer and he was a k9 supervisor.
He was a disciplinary chairperson and investigator. Doyle was also a shift supervisor. In 1976 he was promoted to CO 2. In 1984 Doyle was promoted to a CO 3.
He was awarded supervisor of the year at OSR multiple times.
Doyle was a sergeant, a lieutenant and finally a captain.
In May 1990 Doyle was awarded Correctional officer of the year for the state of Oklahoma. He was also awarded Distinguished correctional Supervisor of the year at the National ceremony held in Washington D.C. at the White House, a very prestigious award. He enjoyed working in uniform and was a proud and respected employee of DOC. He participated in and arranged many different search and rescue efforts all over the state.
Doyle was an avid outdoorsman. He was a skilled quail hunter and enjoyed dove hunting and predator hunting. He spent many years training and raising hunting dogs.
Doyle was a wonderful friend and always had a story to tell. His wisdom and hard work ethic helped him to become very successful in life. He was a cherished father and papa.
Doyle is preceded in death by his mother Geneva Stoup, father Vernon Stoup, sister Janice Peterson and his loving wife MaryAnn stoup.

Great grandchildren: Dreyton Bryant, Alexia Callahan, Channing Davis, Ashtyn Martin, Kynli Cummings, Rowyn Martin, and Kirsten Cummings
