Melvin "Don" Clark
October 3, 1929 - July 8, 2026
Melvin "Don" Clark, 96, passed peacefully from this life on July 8, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of faith, hard work, service, and family that will continue for generations.
Don was born on October 3, 1929, to Maurice "Merce" Clark and Jewel "Leonard" Clark. He attended Mountain View Schools until the age of 17, when he answered the call to serve his country by joining the United States Army. He completed basic training at Fort Ord, California, and proudly served in the Korean War. After serving 61 months in the military, Don was honorably discharged and returned home to Oklahoma.
Following his military service, Don worked briefly as a farm hand before beginning his own custom harvesting business. His work took him from Oklahoma to North Dakota, and he quickly built a reputation for dedication, reliability, and an unmatched work ethic.
Don married the love of his life, Doris June Law, and together they built a life centered on faith, family, and hard work. To this union four children were born: Bobbie June, Tommy, Donnie Sr and Melvin Jr.
In addition to his custom harvesting business, Don established a farming operation with his sons, Donnie and Melvin, raising wheat and cattle. Ranching and farming were more than a livelihood-they were a way of life. In his later years, he continued pursuing his lifelong love of cattle alongside his grandsons, Donnie and Byron. Remarkably, he was still working cattle in the pens only ten days before his passing, a testament to his enduring spirit and determination. He carried on with this treasured tradition until the very end.
Don also shared a special bond with his son Melvin through their love of working junk iron. Together they spent countless hours collecting, sorting, and repurposing scrap metal, a tradition that Melvin proudly continues today.
Most importantly, Don was a man of unwavering faith. In 1967, he began his walk with Jesus Christ and remained a faithful servant for the rest of his life. He loved his church, attended every service he could, and when he was unable to attend, he could often be found at home reading and studying God's Word. His quiet faith, steadfast example, and love for the Lord impacted everyone who knew him.
Don is survived by his daughter, Bobbie June Richardson and husband Lynn Richardson; his son, Melvin Clark Jr. and wife Bobbie Clark; grandchildren Bobby Lynn Hanes and husband Jim Hanes, Thomas Richardson, Raquel and Richard Thornton, Donnie Jr. and April Clark, Byron and Leah Clark, and Desirae and David Stewart; great-grandchildren Maegan Lankford, Rowdy Albert, Carissa Riley, Lane Thornton, Saylor Clark-Thornton, Lucki Clark, Journi Clark, Dylan Clark, Emory Clark, Chloe Clark, Ryder Clark, Jaxson Clark, Hayden Clark, Destiny Stewart, Dallon Lindsay, and Dylan Stewart; and great-great-grandchildren Klaus Riley, Veronica Riley, Jude Ray Lindsay, Haven Clark, Deacon Stewart, and Ezekiel Bearbow.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Doris June Clark; his parents, Maurice "Merce" Clark and Jewel "Leonard" Clark; his brothers, Marvin Clark, Marion Clark, and Trulan Clark; his sister, Eula Faye; his sons, Tommy Bryant and Donnie Maurice Clark Sr.; and his granddaughter, Chastity Clark.
For 96 years, Don exemplified what it meant to live a life of service-to his country, his family, his community, and his Savior. His family finds comfort in knowing that the man who faithfully followed Christ throughout his life has now heard the words, "Well done, good and faithful servant."
Though he will be deeply missed, the lessons he taught, the traditions he passed down, and the faith he lived out will remain in the hearts of all who were blessed to know and love him
