David Ray Carley

David Ray Carley was born on January 29, 1942 to Ray and Nadine Carley (Martin-Frazier) in Corpus Christie, Texas. David passed away and went to be with his Lord Jesus on October 2, 2024 in Wichita Falls, Texas. David was the first born of three siblings (two sisters Janice and Tammie). He was raised and attended school in Cordell, Oklahoma where he graduated.

David married Joyce Ferguson in 1966 and to that union he had two daughters, Sheila and Carlina. David worked as a minister of several churches in Oklahoma. In 1985 he married Cindy Brown of Iowa. The Carley's moved to Colorado, North Carolina and Texas where David pastored several congregations. In 1998 David resigned from full time ministry and went on to pursue other careers. He found great success selling Long Term Care for Genworth in Southwestern Oklahoma. He and Cindy eventually moved back to Cordell in 1999 and lived there until 2022. at which time David moved to an assisted living center in

Wichita Falls, TX.

David was blessed to assist in ministering at Grace and Truth Church in Cordell. He holds a BS in radio/TV broadcasting, a BA in theology/speech, and a Master of Arts in agency counseling. David was an avid movie-goer, writer, chess player and sports enthusiast. He loved watching football and basketball. He enjoyed playing train with friends as often as he could. He loved ice cream and spending time with family. David had a deep love for God and grew in his amazement of grace. His life verse was Acts 13:36 ESV, which says "For David, after he had served the purpose of God in his own generation, fell asleep...". Now he is in the arms of his heavenly Father.

David was preceded in death by his lovely wife Cindy in 2009.

He is survived by two daughters, Sheila Carley-Harris of Wichita Falls, TX (and son-in-law James) and Carlina Bobo of Colorado Springs, CO (and son-in-law Monty); Two sisters, Janice Carley of OKC, OK and Tammie Koch of Corn, OK. Five grandchildren - Mason, Kim, Hugh, Hannah and Landry. Three great-grandchildren - Ariah, Charlotte and Ryker.
