Arnetta Pritchard

March 24, 1936 — December 16, 2023

Arnetta Pritchard, age 87, of Carnegie, OK passed away Saturday, December 16,2023 at Legacy Village Senior Living, Castle Pines, CO. Arnetta was born on March 24,1936 in Eldorado, OK to John and Hattie Weyrick. Her parents were sharecroppers and when times became hard, they moved to Rush Springs, OK in search of a better way of life. She spent her childhood on a farm in Rush Springs working the land with her parents and siblings. She was a good student and constantly made the honor roll. She excelled in basketball and softball and her dream job was to be a HS basketball coach. She married Don Pritchard, November 10,1956 at Wichita Falls, TX and lived in Caddo county since 1959. They provided their two boys with a loving home. As their boys participated in school and sporting events, they never missed an event.
She was a cook and kitchen manager in the Carnegie Public Schools for 40 years where she cooked for a few generations of local families.
In her spare time, she was a seamstress making alterations for friends, cheerleaders, and prom dresses of graduates. She loved the social interaction. She was a member of the First Baptist Church for over 60 years and seldom missed a service even if she needed to watch it on the app of her I-phone. She gave back to the church and community by working at the FBC clothes closet, funeral luncheons, falls creek volunteer and vacation bible school. She was awarded the B.W. Jolly Citizenship Award in 2009. With only a 10th grade education, she learned how to use a computer and I-phone in later life. Her motivation was to be able to email and text her children and grandchildren.
She adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren, becoming a frequent traveler to spend more time with them. She had her passport, frequent traveler numbers, TSA pre-check and was Gram on the go.
An avid basketball and football fan. In particular, she loved the OKC Thunder and never missed watching a game. She would watch until the end of the game even if the Thunder were getting beaten by 30 points. She had a sweet soul and will be missed.
Arnetta is survived by: Sons/daughters-in-law, Donnie & Barbara Lamb of Castle Pines, CO; Lonnie & Elizabeth Lamb of Lexington, SC; Sister/brother-in-law, Jean & Harry Funk of Rush Springs, OK; Grandchildren, Tinsley Hembree & husband Jordan of Camas, WA; Rachel Cox & husband Matt of Belmont, NC; Taylor Lamb & wife Alyson of Martinez, GA; Great grandchildren, Grant Hembree of Camas, WA, Bennett & Carter Cox of Belmont, NC; Henry & Emma Lamb of Martinez, GA.
