Allen Moore

August 31, 1934 — March 5, 2026

Allen Ashley Moore entered eternal rest and went into the arms of his Savior on March 5, 2026, in Bethany, Oklahoma, at the age of 91. He was born on August 31, 1934, to Leonard Thomas and Juanita Boyd Moore.

Allen spent his early years in Cooperton, OK, with his parents and younger brother, Bennie. In 1946, the Moore family moved to the Toad Boyd farm, where Allen embraced the life of a farm boy. He worked diligently and always offered a helping hand with the chores. Allen and his family were devoted members of the Cooperton Christian Church for many years, where he and his entire family were baptized on Father's Day in 1945. He graduated from Cooperton High School in 1952.

Allen had three daughters, Connie, Allison and LaNette, from two previous marriages before meeting and marrying Betty Hilliard, the love of his life, on July 1, 1971. Allen and Betty were married for 46 years until her passing in 2016.

Allen's career included farming and building custom homes. He also served as a federal building inspector before earning his B.S.Ed and M.S.Ed from Oklahoma State University. He then joined the faculty of Western Oklahoma Technology Center in Burns Flat, OK, where he created the first carpentry program. He retired from teaching in 1993 at which point he and Betty started a woodworking business called "Cooperton Crafts," which brought them great joy. Traveling became a favorite thing to do, especially with Bennie and Glenny, as they visited 44 out of 50 of our U.S. states. In 1995, Allen and Betty moved their church membership to the First Christian Church in Hobart, OK, where they continued to be faithful members for many years.

As both Allen and Betty's health began to decline in late 2015, they decided to leave their farm life behind and move to Southern Plaza, an independent living center for retired people, in January 2016. Betty passed away June 3rd later that same year. Allen continued living at Southern Plaza for the next ten years, living a full life with many friends, including a special friend, Joy Pauly, who brought him much happiness and companionship.

Allen is survived by his brother, Ben Moore and wife Glenny of Neosho, MO, three daughters, Connie Vetter of Cooperton, OK, Allison and Steve Horne of Ada, OK, and LaNette and Tobin Jackson of Oklahoma City. His step family was an important part of his life and included: Robert and Janet Hilliard, Laura Wells, Misty Hilliard, Roger and Tammy Slife. He also had three additional "bonus" daughters, Sharon Meinert, Carol Meinert, and Donna Jones. He was blessed with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and even a few great-great grandchildren.

Allen was preceded in death by his parents, L.T. and Juanita Moore, his wife, Betty Moore, step-daughter, Linda Perry, stepsons, Rick Hilliard and Danny Hilliard, great-grandson, Rowdy Gray, and son-in-law, Jerry Vetter.

Allen dearly loved his large family, his Cooperton, Roosevelt, and Hobart friends, along with his friends and staff at Southern Plaza.

Allen was a man of character, dearly loved and respected by many, and he will be truly missed by all who knew him.
