Albert Samuel Mahoney

December 19, 1949 — October 19, 2025

Albert Samuel Mahoney was born December 19, 1949 in Bovina, Texas to a young Celia Isabell. Within 24 hours of being born, he was sent to Carmen's Children Home in Carmen, Oklahoma in hopes of a forever family.

At the age of 6, the children's home was being converted into a retirement facility. Mr. and Mrs. John T. Mahoney, who ran the children's home, adopted him and moved him to Hobart where they were relocating. Albert's mother was a housewife. His father was a preacher and carpenter who taught him carpentry skills, which he used throughout his life. Albert grew up in church with a loving and God fearing family.

One day when he was around the age of 12, a cute girl named Joyce Ensey from the neighborhood asked to borrow his new bicycle for a spin. Of course he let her. Before he knew it, the street lights had come on and it was time to head home, only Joyce hadn't returned with the bike yet. When he arrived home without his new bicycle, he was in trouble. Joyce returned the bike the next day unaware of the predicament she had caused for him. When telling this story he always says "It was worth it." After years of friendship at the age of 17, they began their love story.

They had only been dating two weeks when one day on the way home from his father's church service in Gotebo, Oklahoma he asked Joyce to marry him. Told her to think about it and let him know by tomorrow. The next day she said, of course "I will."

Albert's father Reverend John T. Mahoney married them on August 4, 1967 in Vernon Texas with his mother being the witness.

In 1982 after 15 years of marriage, Albert and Joyce welcomed their first child, Eric Samuel and then in 1987 their daughter, Jenny Laura.

Albert worked for Duty Packers nine years, Chapman Construction for 3.5 years, TH Rogers for 10 years, Elkview for nine years and the Western Technology Center in Hobart for nine years. He was a hard working man who loved his family.

Albert and Joyce spent 48 years together until her unexpected passing in August 2016. He missed her every day until they were reunited in Heaven.

Albert loved to craft and "piddle" in his workshop. There were not many things he could not make. He enjoyed long drives with Jenny and doing house and automotive projects with Eric and Angel. He loved his grandchildren dearly. He and Joyce would take Elle on vacations which made forever memories. He loved playing dominoes with Eli and taking after-school trips to McCollom Market for ice cream. Albert could always be seen supporting Karter, Jakob and Alexah and Eli at school activities.

Albert was preceded in death by his wife Joyce Mahoney; parents John T. Mahoney and Gertrude Edith Mahoney, Celia Isabell Foster; brothers Dan Mahoney, Paul Mahoney, Bill Mahoney, John T. Mahoney Jr., Jesse Foster; sister Lynelle Rigney; stepfather Wayne Foster.

Albert is survived by children Jenny Mahoney and partner Michael Montgomery; Eric Mahoney and wife Angel; grandchildren Elle Mahoney, Alexah Mahoney, Karter Mahoney, Jakob Mahoney and Eli Mahoney; bonus daughter and son, Ariel and Devin Humphrey; bonus granddaughters, Kynli and Kirsten Cummings, all of Hobart; nephew Leroy Mahoney and wife Dorothy Mahoney
