    Ruby Marie Unruh

    January 12, 1926 - November 20, 2021

    Ruby Marie (Dalke) Unruh, 95, passed away on Saturday, November 20, 2021 at Integris Hospice House in Oklahoma City, OK. She was born near Fort Cobb on January 12, 1926 to Henry and Caroline (Carrie) Dalke. Ruby grew up in the farming community north of Apache, Oklahoma and attended Broxton Schools. She was one of seven children, 3 boys and 4 girls, and related numerous stories of the good times enjoyed by the family. After graduating from high school, Ruby attended college for a year. She also taught school in a one room school house where she had to provide all the services and care to include drawing the water, kindling the fires in the winter, as well as teaching the children which she found immensely enjoyable. Following the cessation of World War II, Ruby married her sweetheart, Alvin W. Unruh on February 3, 1946, shortly after his return from overseas. They shared seventy-four blissful years together in and around the Carnegie and Fort Cobb area. Farming and raising cattle until their retirement, at which time they made their permanent residence in Fort Cobb. They raised four boys, all graduating from Fort Cobb High School. Ruby was active in the church as a vocalist, Sunday School Teacher, and held several administrative functions. She was a cook for the Carnegie Schools and was active in the local flower group. She enjoyed table top games with family and friends, reading, sewing, quilting, cooking, competing in the local fairs with her canned and baked goods as well as flowers. Ruby is preceded in death by her: husband, Alvin, who passed on June 15, 2020; two brothers Herman and Irvin; two sons, Dennis LeRoy Unruh & Stanley Doyle Unruh; granddaughter, Kandice Ann Unruh. Ruby is survived by her: Sons and their Wives: Wilbur (Jack) & Glenda, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma Ronald (Ron) & Linda, Albuquerque, New Mexico Seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter, and a multitude of other family and friends. Funeral: 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 30, 2021 First Baptist Church, Fort Cobb, Oklahoma Interment: 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 30, 2021 Greenfield Mennonite Church, Fort Cobb, Oklahoma Visitation: 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, November 29, 2021 Ray & Martha's Funeral Home, Carnegie, Oklahoma Under the direction of Ray & Martha's Funeral Home, Carnegie, Oklahoma
