Julian J Whorton Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Julian Q. Whorton of Anadarko was born on May 27th, 1933 to John and Aline (Bointy) Queton in Carnegie, Oklahoma, and went to her heavenly home on July 22nd, 2022. Julian was a full blood Kiowa and a proud member of the Kiowa Tribe of Oklahoma. Julian was the 1954 Kiowa Tribal Princess. Julian attended school as Samone and graduated from Carnegie High School. Julian received her Bachelor's degree from Oklahoma A & M now Oklahoma State University and her Masters in Special Education from SWOSU. Julian retired in 2008 after teaching and working in Administration for 41 years. Julian received many awards for her teaching which included, the Optimist Teacher of the month in October 2003, the East Grade School Teacher of the Year 2003-2004, the District Teacher of the Year 2003-2004, the Eva Robinson Memorial Award 2003-2004, and she received the National Honor for CEC Teacher of the Year in 2004. Julian is survived by 3 daughters, Leta Rogers and Jeff of Anadarko, Laurie Bridel and Bob of Shreveport, Louisiana, and Michelle Young of Oklahoma City. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Scarlett Rogers and Adam Elizondo, Dakota Rogers and Beth Wood, Jensine Rogers and Marvin Blizzard, Sophie Bridel, Jackson Bridel, Monique Massey, Syreeta Whorton and Kwame Dewberry. Julian is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Scout Albertson, Rowdy Albertson, Joseph Wood and Emma Wood. She is also survived by one sister, Roberta Strange. Julian also had a close relationship with her nieces, Vickey, Shelia, ad Lori Lorentz and nephews, Jesse Lonewolf, George Tahbone and John Lorentz Sr. Julian also had her plus grandchildren, Dana Lonewolf, Warren Queton, David Komalty, Cecelia Komalty, Starr Chavez, Dustin Niedo, Stacia King, Andrea King, Derrick Lorentz, Donovan Lorentz, Deidre Lorentz, Thomas Lonewolf, Michael Lorentz, and Ronnie Lorentz. She had her special cousins, Edna (Fuzzy) Bointy and Pat Satepeahtaw. Her special friends Theresa Haggard, Pauline Curry, and Dorothy Whitehorse Delaune, who Julian often spoke with about their Kiowa history. Julian was preceded in death by her husband, James; her son, Pat; her parents, John and Aline (Bointy) Queton; her brothers, Spencer Queton, Malcolm Queton, Floyd Queton, Melvin Queton, and Virgil Queton; her sisters, Cecelia Lorentz, Esther Jones, Hattie Crossman, Juanita Bigbow, Marjorie Tahbone, and Lorraine Queton.
