    Floyd Dempsey Elkouri

    January 11, 1930 - March 8, 2022

Floyd "Dempsey" Elkouri (Pa), 92, of Hobart, Oklahoma passed away peacefully with his family by his side . He was born January 11, 1930 in Gotebo, Oklahoma to Fred and Nellie Elkouri. He grew up on the family farm in Brinkman. He attended Eastview schools and graduated in 1948. He joined the Army in 1951 and was a cook in Korea. While working at a cafe in Stillwater he met his wife Phyllis Darlene Richardson. He needed a waitress so he asked her to marry him, they married on March 15, 1958. They moved to Hobart in 1959 and bought the A & B Cafe. For 40 years it was known as the "Landmark of Hobart" and operated by PHYLLIS and the LITTLE ARAB. He was a great cook and famous for his pancakes that covered the plate! After retiring from cooking he opened The Browse shop and ran it for 11 years. He enjoyed going to auctions and the buy, sell, and trade of the business. He offered a "family discount" to his loved ones, which usually meant a little bit more than he would ask a customer but eventually they got it a whole lot less after some intense bargaining. He enjoyed making pies for people in the community. He also enjoyed it when the girls and grandkids would argue with him on who was his favorite. He would laugh and say he loved them all. He and Phyllis spent 64 wonderful years together. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his mother Nellie and his brother Tunney. Dempsey is survived by his wife Phyllis of the home Daughters: Vicki and husband Mike Lunsford Pam and husband Ronnie Booker Son: Randy Elkouri and Kathy Elkouri Grandchildren: Kenny and Meggan Lunsford; Nathan and Abbie Lunsford; Hether and Preston Williams, James Elkouri, Cara and Dillon Cain, Chelsea Elkouri; Tiny and Max Smith; Tori Booker Great-grandchildren: Katon, Emmy and Lily Lunsford, Hazel and Jett Lunsford; Chandler and Asher Williams Nephew: Danny and wife Lori Elkouri Nieces: Debby Elkouri Mary Elkouri He was a member of the Hobart Church of Christ, the VFW, and the American Legion.
