Obituary

Stephen Wayne Bacon, 62, of Cordell, Oklahoma passed away unexpectedly at his home, on March 23rd, 2019. He was born March 18th, 1957 to Lynn Roy & Carylon Sue (Daniels) Bacon in Clinton, Oklahoma. Steve attended school in Sentinel graduating from Sentinel High School in 1975. During high school he stayed busy with his brothers mowing yards, plowing and many other odd jobs. After graduation he went to work at Styrene Wholesales and Winden Equipment, he drove truck and hauled cattle for Danny Corbin, he also went on harvest. Other jobs he worked was oil field during the 1980's oil boom, Growers Ag, and as Sheriffs Deputy for the Washita County Sheriff's Department.
Stephen met and married the love of his life Kim Medlin on March 12, 1982 in Cordell, Oklahoma. To this union was born three children: Mallie, Tate and Aabra. They made their home in Cordell, opening Steve's Tire and Automotive. After closing his business he went to work for Wheeler Brothers Grain where he remained employed for nearly twenty years, he retired in January. Steve was a faithful and loyal employee and made numerous friends along the way. Steve was later diagnosed with diabetes, he battled this disease for many years. To help cope he began the process of getting his service dog. In 2014 Parker came into his life, he was trained to take care of and manage his diabetes. Parker was not only his service dog, he was his best friend and part of the family, where ever Steve went Parker was right by his side. Parker will miss his best friend. In his free time, Steve loved to make knives and saddles. When he was in better health he really enjoyed working and shoeing horse.
