Obituary

James "Jr." Taylor graced this world on April 18. His parents, James and Mary Jo, began their family once this boy arrived. He lived in Vinson with his parents and brothers and graduated high school before being drafted into the US Army during the Vietnam War. Jr. served his country in the Army as a specialist and diesel mechanic. He received the National Defense Service Medal as well as the Good Conduct Medal before being honorably discharged after 2 years of service. On May 20, just before being discharged, Jr. married Stephanie. Upon returning home, Jr. and Stephanie built their home and raised their three children in Vinson. Jr. was a lifelong cowboy, farmer and rancher. His love for antique muscle cars was known to all, but his greatest joy was watching his grandchildren.

Jr. was preceded in death by his father, mother, and brother Grover.

He is survived by wife Stephanie Taylor, brothers, Bobby and wife Margaret Taylor, Tommie and wife Barb Taylor, and Johnny and wife Sunny Taylor; children, Steven and wife Nicole Taylor, Shannon and husband Larry Osborne, and Stacey and husband Kalip Frazier; and grandchildren, Logan and Madison Taylor; Samuel, Adam and Sarah Osborne; Cedrik and Kylie Frazier; Kylie and husband Tyler Graumann, Olivia and Messina Taylor.

Memorial Services for Jr. will be held Saturday, May 12 at 2 PM, at the First United Methodist Church in Mangum, Oklahoma.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Cave Creek Cemetery Fund. These donations can be sent to 1528 Cindy St. Mangum, OK 73554 or can be given to the funeral home to forward.

A Celebration of Life is also scheduled on June 2 at 5PM at the family home in Vinson, Oklahoma.

Sorry we didn't keep in touch Junior.  There's so few of us Taylor's left and now it's too late for me to reach out.  We were close when we were kids and shared some wonderful times when I would go to Grandmother and Granddad's place in Vinson.  God has you in his arms now and you are at peace.  Prayers are with your family.

I am in a rather state of shock of your passing Junior! You were an admired person in all of your family, and I (your cousin) watched and admired that you were formed into a very image of your Dad! Not, -- to mention all of your brothers and others looked up to you for some guidance in this imperfect world! I am very glad that I came to Vinson last year for two days,-- and spent some time with you and Stephanie! Enjoyed that so much which will be a treasure in my memories!! May God Bless you! - my good man, and I know that the Lord has wrapped his arm around your shoulders, and took you to reunite with mom & dad- James and Mary jo and our Taylor Grandparents ---and now many other relatives!! God Bless You Junior and too, especially Stephanie and all your kids and grandkids!!!! Life can be short, but we can make great history in that dash between birth and death!! You did it!!!

Steven - I'm sorry your Dad passed away. I can see a resemblance to him in you. And to all of Mr. Taylors family- my condolences- I appreciate his service in the army and that he was decorated for his service. I would have liked to visit with him about muscle cars. I think he was a good man who loved his family.

Junior, I've known you for two thirds of my life.  Longer than I have known my husband.  You were an awesome brother-in-law.  Tom and I will always cherish our visits to OK.  I will always remember the time Steph had me frying squash and you caught me eating it as it came out of the pan.  From one veteran to another you will be missed greatly.  Love you bunches, Pam
