She was chosen as the Sentinel Teacher of the Year during her years of teaching. In 1986, Joan received a national award as Master Teacher in Migrant Education. She enjoyed bowling, Sudoku, criptiquotes, playing cards with everybody, word search with Monte and dabbling in arts and crafts.

Loving wife and mother; devoted Christian and dedicated educator-her presence will be missed, but her spirit will live on in our hearts.
