Phil Ragan Bohay, Jr. was born November 11, 1954 in Inglewood, CA to Phil Ragan and Mamie Daugomah Bohay and entered into eternal rest on Monday, August 5, 2013 in Fresno, California, at the age of 58, with his family by his side. He was a Full Blood member of the Kiowa Tribe. He was Baptized at Cedar Creek United Methodist Church. He attended schools in Carnegie, OK, Hawthorne, Inglewood, and South Gate, CA and graduated from South Gate High School in 1972 and attended Cal State University Long Beach. He was a Vietnam Veteran having enlisted in the United States Navy and graduated from the San Diego Naval Station in 1973. He was stationed at the Long Beach Naval Shipyard before being deployed to Japan aboard the Seventh Fleet Flagship The USS Oklahoma City, guided missile cruiser. In April 1975, The USS Oklahoma City participated in the evacuation of Saigon, Vietnam. He was Honorably Discharged on July 19, 1976 as a Machinist’s Mate Fireman Apprentice. He was a certified Steam Engineer for boilers and engines and worked for White Memorial Hospital in Los Angeles, The City of Los Angeles, and Pleasant Valley State Prison in Coalinga, CA, until his retirement.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years Pauline Eddy Bohay, of the home seven children; Wenona Clarice Bohay, Fresno CA Mamie Bohay of Jupiter Florida, Raymond Bohay, San Luis Obispo, CA Bill Everet Bohay, Anadarko, OK Allison Bohay, Fresno, CA, Rachel Bohay, Fresno, CA Rebecca Bohay,Fresno, CA. Grandchildren: Zane, Lena, Alexander, Malachi, Taliona and Lazarus James Aunts: Juanita Ahtone, Loretta Dupoint Scantlen, and Allene Woodard Uncles: Thomas Woodard, Phil “Joe Fish” Dupoint, Donald Dupoint and Ronald “Dawes” Twohatchet, eight brothers and sisters; Phyllis Rae Hunter, Dawn Cecille Toyekoyah, Russell Bohay Beth Anne Gooday, and Dina Mattie Gooday all of Anadarko, OK, Bennett Earl Daugomah of Jonesboro, Arkansas, Debra Susan Bohay Campos of Norwalk, CA and Steve James Bohay, Long Beach, CA, his father and mother-in-law; Elmo and Jeanette Eddy of Cloquet, Minnesota.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Brenda Mae Bohay, a brother Thomas Wayne Bohay, Sr, niece Lena Jean Bohay, nephews Matthew Alan Toyekoyah, Jeffrey Tenequer, his paternal grandparents Steve M. Bohay and Pearl D. Woodard, his maternal grandparents James Daugomah and Celia Lonewolf Auchiah Uncles James Daugomah, Arthur Daugomah, George Botone, Marquis Woodard, Allen Woodard, Kenneth Wayne Bohay, Aunts Lena Jean Kaulaity, Vena Beaver, Mary “Lou” Walker, Ida Landin.
He will be dearly missed by his many nephews, nieces, cousins, family and friends.
